A broad basis for the future
Are you interested in engineering and management? Do you enjoy connecting up various subject areas and can think in an interdisciplinary way? Would you like to take a practically-oriented course and gain a multifaceted background to prepare you for the labour market?
Then the Engineering and Management degree programme and Hochschule Mannheim are the right choices for you.
The course consists primarily of fundamental scientific, engineering, legal and business-related content and is supplemented by the teaching of key soft skills and languages. All the contents are taught in a practically-oriented way through lectures, exercises, case studies and lab experiments.
Professions
How can a product be improved technically and what is the budget for it? When are technical investments worth it and when not? These are the typical questions faced by industrial engineers, who solve issues that need to be considered from a technical, economic and legal angle at all management levels.
Graduate industrial engineers with their specialist knowledge are thus much sought-after, at exactly these interfaces in companies. Typical fields of employment include production, logistics, marketing and sales, consulting and research+development. Industrial engineers can be found, for instance in the automotive and supplier industry, in mechanical and plant construction, electrical industry and management consultancy. With their interdisciplinary training, they are also well equipped for starting their own business.

Course objectives
The basic skills for success as an industrial engineer are taught during the course, such as:
- Specialist and methodological skills: The ability to recognise and competently solve complex tasks in technical and economic contexts.
- Soft skills: The ability to interact with people. Developing strong communication and teamworking skills and the ability to withstand conflicts are key components.
- Language skills: The ability to communicate effectively in a foreign language and integrate appropriately.
- Academic skills: Basic skills for producing academic work independently.
