Project International Excellence
As part of the DAAD funding program FIT – Promotion of international talents for integration into studies and the labour market, Technische Hochschule Mannheim will receive a total of 1.04 million euros in funding from April 2024 to the end of 2028 by the German Academic Exchange Service.
The project of the Technische Hochschule Mannheim International Excellence@Technische Hochschule Mannheim (IE@HMA) pursues 4 overarching program goals with its measures.
Attracting and preparing particularly qualified applicants without knowledge of German for a STEM degree program at Technische Hochschule Mannheim. By intensifying existing school partnerships and cooperations and with the support of external agencies and databases, qualified applicants are to be targeted and supported in the application and enrolment process.
Ensuring the academic success of international students by focusing on a good arrival in their studies (Welcome Days, Welcome Guide), intensification of the accompanying language (Language Center) and subject-related (ZLL) support services, close supervision by our Student Lifecycle Manager and social integration into campus and city life (Cultural Program, Buddy Program, Welcome Center).
In order to increase the employability of international students on the German labour market, the Career Center offers courses on applications, employment contracts, etc. A mentoring program of lecturers and company partners is intended to prepare students for the German labour market with practical experience by giving international students access to student work contracts, internships, practical semesters and theses.
In order to integrate international students into the regional job market after successfully completing their studies at Technische Hochschule Mannheim, we will continue to expand our regional network of companies – HR Manager Network Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar GmbH, mentoring program – and consolidate our contacts with successful alumni .
Through IE@HMA, internationalization at Technische Hochschule Mannheim will be further promoted, the welcoming culture at the university will be strengthened in the long term, and international students will be even better accompanied and specifically supported throughout the entire student lifecycle, thus enabling them to integrate into the German labour market.
