How much does it cost to study in Mannheim?
Tuition fees
Since education in Germany is subsidised by the state, tuition fees for international degree-seeking students are very affordable in the state of Baden-Württemberg: only EUR 1,500 per semester (find out more here). Additionally, students pay some administrative fees called Semesterbeitrag (semester contribution, details see below).
Exchange and double degree students from partner universities pay no tuition fees and a reduced amount regarding the semester contribution (see below).
Semester contribution
All students at Hochschule Mannheim pay a semester contribution each semester.
- Degree seeking students currently pay €169.60 (winter semester 2024/25)
- Double degree students currently pay €99.60 (winter semester 2024/25)
- Exchange students pay the reduced rate of €85.00 (winter semester 2024/25)

- Summer semester: January 1st - January 31st
- Winter semester: July 1st - July 31st
Monthly expenses
All in all, you will need approximately EUR 730-950 per month to cover all your expenses during your studies in Mannheim.
We recommend that you have about EUR 1,500 at your disposal at the beginning of the semester to cover all the one-off payments that usually arise (e.g. refundable deposit for your room).
